Roosevelt Campaign Flag

48 STAR AMERICAN PARADE FLAG AND ROOSEVELT PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN PENNANT ON THE ORIGINAL WOOD STAFF, 1932-1944

Historical Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential parade banner features a 48 Star American Flag and ”Roosevelt” pennant stapled on the original staff. This unique parade flag was very likely used during one of his presidential campaigns in 1932, 1936, 1940, or 1944.

In 1932 Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party, won the election against Republican nominee Herbert Hoover to become the 31st President of the United States. President Roosevelt had many accomplishments in his tenure; he led the United States out of the Great Depression and in 1935 approved of financial aid to the aged, infirm and unemployed when they were no longer able to provide for themselves, in 1935 the federal government guaranteed unions the right to organize and bargain collectively, in 1938 established the Fair Labor Standard Act to provide a floor under wages and a ceiling on hours that are still used today, and victory was achieved in World War II.

Franklin Roosevelt, “FDR” as he was affectionately known, served the longest tenure as President from March 1933-April 1944. He served 4 consecutive terms as President making him the only president in U.S. History to serve more than two terms; on March 21, 1947 Congress formally proposed a two-term limit on the number of terms a president of the United States may serve and on February 27, 1951 it was ratified and became the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
