13 Star “Betsy Ross” wreath pattern American flag with original description card. This was a souvenir from the Betsy Ross House; the picture depicts Betsy Ross holding the 13 Star Flag, seated to her left is General Washington, Hon. George Ross, and Robert Morris, stamped on lower right copyrighted 1897 by C.H.Weissberger. The picture is titled “BIRTH OF OUR NATIONS FLAG” By CHAS. H. WEISGERBER, and GENERAL WASHINGTON, HON. GEORGE ROSS, ROBERT MORRIS, BETSY ROSS.

The cotton flag displays a 13 Star Wreath pattern, one of the most recognized star patterns on the American Flag. The top of the flag or hoist printed: Souvenir of the Betsy Ross House, “Birthplace of Old Glory” Philadelphia. The earlier made souvenir flags, such as this one, printed the canton on the right side of the flag as depicted in the picture of Betsy Ross holding the flag, later dated flags printed the canton on the left side.

The overall condition of the card and flag are good with typical aging with use and period, some foxing and slight staining throughout the flag, and a horizontal crease and staining across the middle of the flag.
