James Whitelaw, a surveyor and mapmaker, published the most accurate maps of Vermont up to the time when he took the position as Vermont State Surveyor General in 1787. This map was published in 1793 and was included in the 1794 edition of "The Natural and Civil History of History" by Samuel Williams.
